Fascinating Ancient Heritage

The Kingdom of Cambodia, formerly the Republic of Kampuchea, opened its gates to tourists only recently, in the mid-1990s, after years of isolation. Tourist arrivals grew steadily ever since, making it one of the newest and most exciting travel destinations among the countries of Southeast Asia.

An ‘unspoiled’ and ‘undiscovered’ Cambodia is only just beginning to be discovered by travelers in the hilly tribal areas of Ratanakiri and Mondulkiri, the remote temples of Preah Vihear and Banteay Chhmar, and the quaint provincial capitals of Battambang and Kampot.

Siem Reap

Siem Reap is a popular resort town in the northwestern part of Cambodia. It is the gateway to Angkor Thom, which was previously the capital of the Khmer Empire from the 9th to 15th centuries. The Old French Quarter and the Old Market area of Siem Reap abound with Chinese-inspired and colonial period architecture.

Phnom Penh

Phnom Penh served as the capital of the Khmer Empire in the latter part of their reign from the 15th century onwards and also during French colonial era. Its riverfront promenade is lined with parks, restaurants and bars. The splendid Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda, and the National Museum are also located here.

Sihanoukville

Sihanoukville, on the south coast is Cambodia’s only port, a premier beach resort and the gateway to a small but delightful archipelago of popular off-shore islands. Koh Kong’s Cardamom Mountains rainforest lies to the west. Kampot and its rich hinterland of pepper plantations and salt pans lies to the east.
